Camping quick tips.

Quick tips.

We love clever time-saving ideas; so as part of our quick tip feature, here are a few to get you started......

  • Everybody loves scrambled eggs.

Simply mix 2 or 3 eggs per person with a pinch of salt and pepper and store the mix in a sealed Tupperware container. Now freeze the container(s) and use them in the top of your cool box – not only does it make packing eggs easier, but the frozen eggs work just like a cool pack, keeping the rest of your cooler – well cool! As they defrost, cook them up for breakfast! Simply delicious.

  • Potatoes and Veg to go!

Wash and slice your vegetables and potatoes just how you like them and then pack them in foil with a knob of butter and a pinch of salt and pepper. Now seal the foil parcels up ready to pack in your cool box. When you’re ready to cook them, put the foil packs under the grill, in the table top oven or even on the camp fire or BBQ. Turning them occasionally until cooked – oooh tasty stuff! This works really well for onions, squash, sweet potatoes, aubergines and courgettes.

  • Add flavour and save space:

Marinate your meats with your favourite marinades, and freeze them in food bags. That makes your cooler colder and tenderises the meat ready for when you need it. Don’t forget to defrost thoroughly before cooking.

  • Edible ice packs for your cool box:

Cook up a batch of homemade chilli or spaghetti bolognese and freeze them in freezer bags or Tupperware containers. Uses these in your cool box just like ice packs to keep everything cold.
